About Martha Pease
Martha Pease has served as Chief Marketing Officer, Board Member, CEO and Advisor in a career spanning high-level posts in media, retail, luxury goods, beauty, technology and healthcare for iconic global companies including Victoria’s Secret, Apple, Neutrogena, Lifetime TV, L’Oreal, Domino’s and the Boston Consulting Group. Recognized and respected as expert in transforming brands to unlock growth, Martha builds consumer and cultural brand relevance, and durable, revenue-boosting competitive advantage. Martha specializes in realigning complex organizations toward transformational change by resetting priorities, balancing risk and building stakeholder consensus.
Most recently, as CMO for Victoria’s Secret (VS), Martha architected the ground breaking brand transformation vision and repositioning strategy which helped set the stage for consumer re-engagement and investor confidence in VS. Martha spearheaded an inclusive and women-centric brand projection, high profile and innovative repositioning initiatives, and communications for the successful 2021 IPO of VS&Co. Currently, as Senior Advisor to the CEO of VS&Co, Martha brings a sustainable consumer-centric perspective to the growth agenda for the brand portfolio across a range of corporate transformation initiatives.
Earlier in her career, as a Corporate Officer and Member of the Operating Board, Martha led marketing consumer, product development and consumer insight for Neutrogena, and modernized the brand for a mass-market multi-channel platform. Focusing on business model transformation, Martha drove broad digital and revenue expansion for Lifetime TV as EVP, Marketing, and founded growth advisory firm DemandWerks to advise Fortune 500 clients. She served as Partner, Global Leader at The Boston Consulting Group, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams on transformative demand growth strategies across a wide range of client sectors including consumer, fashion, luxury, technology, media, energy and healthcare.
Martha began her career in advertising, leading client accounts in the pioneering era of personal computing innovation. Recruited from DDB and Mobil Oil to the IBM Personal Computer account at Lord, Geller, Federico, Einstein, she then moved rapidly up the account management ladder at BBDO as leader of the Apple Computer account, acknowledged as a champion of lucrative new audience development and trusted advisor to Apple’s executives. Martha partnered with L’Oreal Paris to re-energize global growth for the iconic “Because I’m Worth It” brand, expanding reach to a diverse, digitally savvy audience. She is a highly awarded advertising and creative marketing executive whose work for clients has won every major advertising industry prize.
With a national media profile, Martha is recognized for distilling complex messages into digestible information and shaping national media conversations. An on-air and online commentator for CNN, she is also co-author of Think Round, the guide to demand centric business growth and a sought after public speaker at national and global business, technology and creative forums.
Martha has served as a Board Member of private companies, including HBCare, Fetch Technologies and Magnetique, as well as the public biotech innovator, BioSig (NASDAQ:BSGM). She is a Board Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors, an active member of Women Corporate Directors (WCD) and the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG). Martha has decades of service to women investors and founders as a mentor, coach and investor in women led companies.
She holds a BA, in English Literature and Film History from Dartmouth College, graduating with highest honors, cum laude and multiple citations for academic excellence. In addition Martha is a graduate of the Harvard Radcliffe Publishing Procedures Course at Harvard University.
