Our partners at Hello Heart lead the way in preventive heart health through digital innovation. Given that heart disease ranks among the highest medical expenses for both companies and health plans, and stands as the leading cause of death, it is imperative for all businesses to devise a fresh approach.

Their findings uncover that Cardiovascular disease (CVD), which includes heart disease and strokes, is one of the top chronic conditions that’s driving costs in North America. In a survey of 300 benefits leaders, 75% said heart disease, high blood pressure, and/or high cholesterol were among the top three cost drivers for their healthcare claims.

Their platform offers members a connected blood pressure monitor alongside an AI-driven coaching app. With a focus on user experience, they deliver personalized insights on nutrition, activity, and individualized heart metrics such as blood pressure and cholesterol, aligning with clinical standards. By fostering a habit of monitoring heart health, their members cultivate lasting lifestyle changes. Backed by peer-reviewed research, Hello Heart has demonstrated significant reductions in blood pressure over time. Established in 2013, they are part of the American Heart Association’s Innovators’ Network and trusted by top Fortune 1000 companies, national health plans, and pharmacy benefit managers.

Good heart health improves the entire body. When you focus on heart health, you can not only save on heart-related costs but also on costs related to a wide range of conditions such as Chronic kidney disease, Diabetes and Neurological disorders. Heart disease becomes even more fatal for marginalized communities. Women face double the risk of mortality compared to men following a heart attack. Black Americans are twice as likely to succumb to cardiovascular disease compared to White Americans, and additionally, Hispanic and Latino/a Americans face a significantly elevated risk of heart failure compared to white Americans.

Securing equality in heart health necessitates a collective effort from the community, and digital health tools offer an effective starting point. Their accessibility to anyone with a smartphone,  which covers about 85 percent of Americans, makes them particularly impactful.
