About C. Webb Edwards

Webb Edwards served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Wells Fargo Services Company from 1998 to 2006. Prior to that he served as an Executive Vice President of Operations Group and Technology of Wells Fargo & Company. His areas of responsibility included the project management office; infrastructure technology operations (network, LAN/desktop, data center, information security, and risk); application development; payment systems strategy and execution; retail phone banks; payment operations for wholesale and retail; consumer loan operations; internal customer service delivery; and enterprise technology and data architecture. This organization had an annual budget of $2.2 billion and 21,000 employees.

Mr. Edwards served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Norwest Technical Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Company from 1995 to 1998. Edwards was responsible for all decisions related to technology, operations and call centers during the merger of Norwest and Wells Fargo. At the time it was the largest and most successful merger of two large banks.

Prior to the merger with Wells Fargo, Edwards was Executive Vice President of Norwest Corporation and President for Norwest Services, Inc. He joined Norwest after serving as Executive Vice President of Information Services and Operations for First Interstate Bancorp from 1984.

For several years Edwards has been consulting with mid to small size businesses around strategy development, market positioning, technology trends and payments evolution. Additionally he is co founder of Ganart Technologies in Dallas, Texas. Ganart developed software and hardware for providing transactional services to the unbanked and underserved market.

Additionally, he has done speaking engagements with companies on subjects such as Future Technology Trends, Improving Vendor/ Client Relationships, The paradigm shift in payments and businesses brought about by the rapid evolution of telecommunications and technology, Value of Information and Mobile Payments. Some of these include IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, SunGard, Cannon, Allstate, Fiserv, Kofax and Filenet.

He served on the Board of Carreker Corporation and also later consulted with the Board. He has also served on the Board of Minnesota Mutual, Sterling Savings Bank where he served as vice chair of the Audit committee and chair of the Trust committee and the Board of Umpqua Bank.

Edwards began his career with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta where he managed Operations and Fiscal services.

He has attended Stonier Graduate School of Banking, University of Tennessee Executive Management School, and the Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Program. Edwards did his graduate and post-graduate work in economics and finance at Middle Tennessee State University.

Edwards is a native of Tennessee. He and his wife Cathy currently reside in Malibu, California. They have two children and three grand children.
