Miguel Gamiño, Jr. serves New Yorkers, Mayor Bill de Blasio and the global civic technology community as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the City of New York. As New York City’s CTO, he is responsible for how the City uses technology to strengthen communities and serves as NYC’s ambassador to the technology industry to help NYC be more inclusive, equitable and tech- friendly. His leadership translates to a broad and complex portfolio of public infrastructure, digital initiatives and visionary strategy: broadband for all New Yorkers, smart urban technology and IOT strategy, comprehensive digital strategy that improves government service, and a program to transform the relationship between government and disruptors of industry. The Mayor’s Office of the CTO is working to ensure NYC remains at the top of the global tech game, continuing to evolve as an engaged partner in the positive disruption technology delivers through urban experimentation and validation, policy and governance hacking, and influencing developments to be mindful of broad public interests. Always ensuring the future benefits from the creativity of the world’s greatest technologists and entrepreneurs. Prior to NYC, Mr. Gamiño served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the City and County of San Francisco and Executive Director of the Department of Technology. He served on the Intergovernmental Advisory Committee (IAC) of the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) on behalf of Mayor Edwin M. Lee. Mr. Gamiño has also served as the Chief Information & Innovation Officer for the City of El Paso and Director of the Department of Information Technology Services.
