Our partners at Ascom have released a report titled: Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS), A Clinical Safety Net, Drives Tomorrow’s Brighter Healthcare Outlook. The report highlights a survey of 950 nurses in the U.S. about their outlook on the quality of patient care in the next five years, the technologies transforming care and the barriers to making the most out of technology solutions. The survey reveals several significant findings, including:
- A strong 80% of nurses believe that the standard of care at hospitals will increase in quality in the next five years. This finding is important and encouraging given the pressures facing nurses today after COVID and with the nursing shortage crisis.
- They rank CDSS as the #1 tool for contributing to a higher standard of care.
- And the barriers to implementing CDSS outside the ICU nurses identified were training requirements for learning a new tool and a lack of clarity on how CDSS will integrate with existing technology.
In order for CDSS to reach its full potential, Ascom believes it must move from a pull to a push model. This requires a technology solution to collect, filter and score and then push patient information directly to a caregiver via a mobile device, which Ascom delivers.
