Eli Sinyak leads HSBC Technology and Services organization in the Americas region. He is also the accountable executive in the streamlining programs across this region. HSBC Technology and Services (HTS) manages critical infrastructure of the bank in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and in the United States. HTS is an internal provider of services such as Information Technology, Banking Operations, Transformation Management, Corporate Real Estate and Procurement to HSBC’s global businesses and functions with operations in the Americas region. Mr. Sinyak returned to the Americas in 2011 after a six-year assignment in Asia Pacific where he served as the Regional Chief Information Officer from 2005 to 2008 and then as a Regional Chief Operating Officer from 2008 to 2011. Also, from 2005 to 2011 he was double-hatted as the Chief Information Officer for Global Commercial Banking (CMB) business in addition to his regional role. He was appointed Group General Manager in 2010.
Before moving to Hong Kong, Mr. Sinyak was based in New York as the CEO of HSBC.com. There from 2002 to 2005 he led the teams that successfully launched HSBCNet – a highly successful digital platform available globally to the corporate customers of HSBC; as well as P2G – a personal internet banking platform that is used by HSBC’s customers globally and continues to be an important component of HSBC’s overall digital strategy. Mr. Sinyak joined HSBC in the US in 1999 as a CTO for a newly formed internal dotcom, and before moving to Hong Kong, he held a variety of both country-specific and global management roles with primary focus on e-commerce, business reengineering and large-scale, technology-enabled transformations.
In addition to the roles within HSBC, Mr. Sinyak served as a Director of SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) from 2005 to 2011. He chaired the Audit and Finance Committee from 2006 through 2010 governing the successful transformation of the Internal Audit function, implementation of the operational risk infrastructure and SWIFT’s compliance with the TFTP program on behalf of the Chairman and the full board.
Prior to joining HSBC, Mr. Sinyak held a variety of information technology positions in both start-up and well-established companies in the insurance, software development, integrated logistics and consumer finance industries. Mr. Sinyak holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. He graduated in 1981 from Albright College in Pennsylvania. He is currently based in Miami, FL.
