Net Neutrality Comes To An End
Yesterday, the FCC under chairman Ajit Pai voted to put an end to net neutrality that was put into action by former President Obama. This move has caused extreme controversy among internet users because people believe that the internet should be a free place offering the same amount of speed and traffic for everyone equally.
“The move to end net neutrality has been supported mainly by the big telecoms including Verizon, Comcast and AT&T, while tech giants such as Google, Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and others lobbied at different times to keep net neutrality rules in place.” Marketing Dive reports.
Etsy Inc. Uses Google Cloud
CIO Dive reported this week that Etsy has adopted Google Cloud to be its primary provider in order to help customers on its website. This means that Google is taking the initiative to be a leading cloud provider for businesses, surpassing AWS.
The White House Modernizes Technology
This week, the White House reported that there is a need to implement modern technology in order to push an “American innovation.” This was disclosed in a report released by President Trump called the federal IT modernization report. This report was issued to maximize modern-day technology like cloud computing in order to operate legacy systems.
Hyundai Leads Superbowl Ads For This Year
The Super Bowl ads this year will involve in-game advertising as well as social media marketing in order to create an experience for audience members. Hyundai is leading this initiative with a campaign that will include all of these components. Interactive marketing is taking first place when it comes to marketing efforts.
Hyundai released a report about the upcoming ad, stating that the advertising will be the tenth time in 11 years that Hyuandi will appear in the Super Bowl. This comes as no surprise since Hyundai will be the official car of the game this year.
KFC Releases New Merchandise
KFC has released merchandise on its website surrounding the holiday season. The apparel includes pillows that have its signature chicken on them, and even wrapping paper. The items are affordable, starting at $4. This move is to push customers who are late to shopping to purchase KFC’s $20 Fill-Up meal.
Old Navy Partners With Fox
Old Navy announced a new partnership with Fox this week, revealing that commercials for Old Navy will be broadcasted for 4 minutes during “A Christmas Story Live!” and will even be seen on Facebook Live broadcasts. Not only that, but some of the performers will be sporting Old Navy gear.
“This is a true cross-platform live event partnership,” Suzanne Sullivan, EVP, entertainment sales at Fox Networks Group, told Adweek.” MarketingDive reports.
Press Ganey Announces New Partnership
Press Ganey has revealed a new partnership with Intermountain Healthcare, providing solutions and practices that lead to safety outcomes and to create a better patient experience.
“Intermountain Healthcare is a Utah-based not-for-profit system comprised of 22 hospitals, a Medical Group with more than 1,600 physicians and advanced practice clinicians at approximately 180 clinics, a health plans division called SelectHealth, and other health services.” Public Now reports.
Global Health Exchange Launches Cloud Platform
Global Health Exchange has announced a cloud-based tool in order to fill the divide between supply chain management and data for EHR clinical documentation.
“GHX Clinical ConneXionSM is the first healthcare solution to provide a single source of truth for item information to support clinical documentation and patient billing, including supply and implant capture at the point of use. The first implementation is with Epic Enterprise EHR system.” GHX reports.
Holiday Sales Increase
A new report has been released by the Commerce Department revealing that retail sales have risen 0.8% in November. The categories listed in the report included furniture sales, apparel, electronics, and department sales. This proves that the holiday season was kicked off to a good start.
Walgreens Adds To E-commerce
Walgreens has added a new feature on its site, increasing its API program. The new features allow customers to add to their shopping cart through the app, as well as additional features that make its website load faster.
Disney Pulls Out The Big Bucks
Disney has acquired fox this week, with a whopping offer of $52.3 billion all-stock deal. If this deal goes through, 21st Century Fox will have reach into new markets, as well as boost Disney’s revenue and exposure.
Bitcoin Is Soaring
Bitcoin has hit another record $18,000 on the Bitstamp exchange today.
“The hope (is) that futures signal the unlocking of institutional money into the digital arena and (that there will be) a rapid demand increase and ratification of the technology and its principles,” said Charles Hayter, founder of industry website Cryptocompare.” Reuters reports.
