MarketingDive has released a study by Survata, a brand intelligence platform, that uses technology-driven research to reach conclusions that business professionals can use in order to make strategic decisions.
The results of the study varied depending on the age of the participants. Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat were in the poll, as well as Youtube and Google.
According to MarketingDive, Google is the most trusted digital platform among all age groups. It beats all social media platforms and was noted to have the best ad experience, which results in the most purchasing decisions. Consumers 18-24 preferred Instagram over Facebook when it comes to delivering a positive ad experience. The older group, 25 and above, thought Facebook had the best ad experience, at 33%.
“Interestingly, Facebook took the top spot for delivering the most relevant ads at 38% overall, 23% for 18-24 and 42% for 25 and up. It also took the top spot as the platform most likely to show ads that expose consumers to new businesses at 38% overall.” MarketingDive reports.
Even though some of the older consumers preferred Facebook for ad experiences, that same group also reported that Google helps drive more purchasing decisions, which, is the ultimate goal for brands. The results of this study are interesting, especially since social media platforms have started to deliver more advertisements to users.
Instagram and Facebook are powerful tools when it comes to advertising. You are able to use them in similar ways, to run a campaign and track who it reaches successfully. You are able to use an ad creator in order to run ads, which has been proven to be very effective for brands.
It is no surprise that consumers 18-24 prefer Instagram over the other platforms, considering this generation is the up and coming digitally reliant generation that relies on social media sites for most of their information. Although social media platforms are used frequently, Google continues to remain an influential digital platform for people of all ages. So, next time you want to consider running an ad, you may want to bypass Instagram or Facebook and go straight to Google.
