Breaking News: The Healthcare Showdown Continues With Winning Republican Vote

Breaking News :

Today, The Senate voted on a procedural measure trying to push the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

The chamber voted on whether the placement plan of Obamacare, the American Health Care Act (AHCA), will proceed.

After the vote, the results concluded that the Republicans will continue to move forward in repealing Obamacare.

The repeal needed to receive 51 votes in order to proceed, and exactly 51 votes were cast, with Vice President Mike Pence breaking the tie.

Senator John Mccain returned back to The Senate after receiving a brain tumor diagnosis earlier this week, in order to cast a necessary Republican vote for the bill.

The American Health Care Act was introduced in May and caused controversy between the two political parties as well as healthcare groups around the country.

President Trump has made it clear throughout his campaign and presidency that his goal is to replace and repeal Obamacare, so, The American Health Care Act was put in motion to do just that.

Speaking at the White House just minutes after the vote, President Donald Trump thanked Senate Republicans, saying, “now we move forward with truly great health care for the American people, we look forward to that. This was a big step.” NBC News reports.
